Falls Lifting - an additional service

We aim to help customers who have had a fall in the home. If they aren't injured, a trained member of our team will use specialised equipment to lift them as quickly and safely as possible.

Why did we set up the Falls Lifting?

Before introducing this service, we would have to call an ambulance if a customer had fallen. This was the case, even if the customer felt they were not injured. The ambulance service does not give priority to calls about uninjured fallers. Sadly, this can mean customers will wait up to six hours for an ambulance to arrive. This delay can sometimes lead to further complications and is understandably distressing to the individual who has fallen.

What does the new service offer?

If a customer activates their alarm following a fall, our expert call handlers will ‘triage’ the customer over the phone. If they say they are not injured, then one of our friendly team may be dispatched to assist the customer with getting back up. This will depend on the circumstances of the person and the fall. We aim to arrive on-site within 15 minutes with the lifting device. These enable someone to be gently lifted back to their feet safely and swiftly.

Our fully trained team member will then assess whether any onward referral is required. For example – does that person need a Falls Assessment to determine their needs?  If we arrive on-site and find the customer is actually injured, we will call for an ambulance. This will arrive quicker, as we will be able to provide an accurate description of the customer’s condition.

How much will it cost?

We believe that the addition of the Falls Lifting service will add further value to the quality offer we provide. It will come at no extra cost to Nottingham on Call customers.
